ABOUT ME

Chris Myhill - National Hill Climb Matlock

CHRIS MYHILL

My passion is for cycling, and in particular cycling up hills.

I organise cycling events to share that passion with you so that you too can share the thrill and satisfaction of conquering iconic climbs in the Peak District, or experience a fantastic day out on the bike where you will meet new people, ride wonderful, quiet roads and refuel with excellent food and drink.

I have lived on the edge of the Peak District since 1985. I came to the area from Norfolk and I remember the first time I cycled up the Edale valley and being awe struck by the surrounding peaks. I was instantly drawn to the challenge that hill climbing offers and I soon began to compete in races across the country.

Being introduced to road cycling by people with vast experience ensured that I soon learnt how to maximise my enjoyment and performance, and it is my experience that I now offer to you.

MY CREDENTIALS

I am fortunate to have won many national medals in the British hill climb championships over the years:

  • British national championships: 1988 – 8th place in debut ride, 1991 – 5th, 1993 – 7th, 1994 – 8th, 1995 – 4th, 2001 – 3rd.

  • National student hill climb champion in 1988.

  • Since becoming a veteran rider in 2006 I have been the age group champion in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2018 in the Cycling Time Trials National Championship

  • BMCR National Hill Climb Champion 2019 - 50-54 age group and overall.

  • BMCR National Hill Climb Champion 2020 - 50-54 age group

Although it has been a privilege to have won many titles; nothing surpasses the simple joy of riding a bike and I am as enthusiastic now as I was when I first went out for a group ride in Norfolk back in 1982.
